I had a wonderful time at the Rock & Rawhide 2nd Annual Black, White, and Red Gala at i-Heart Radio Theater. A benefit for NYC’s homeless animals. Here I am with the lovely headliner of the evening recording artist Ingrid Michaelson. She performed her current hit “Girls Chase Boys” among others. Blessing Offor from the current season of The Voice on NBC also performed along with house band The Sands. Dogs up for adoption from Zani’s Furry Friends were on site looking for a forever home. Anthony Rubio with his Chihuahuas Bogie and Kimba attended the Beggin’ presents 24th Annual Tompkins Square Park Halloween Dog Parade in New York City. Every year dog owners dress their four-legged family members in Halloween dog costumes.

This year the theme was Games Of Bones, his take on the hit HBO series Game Of Thrones. Bogie as Jon Snow with his wolf GHOST and Kimba as Daenerys Targaryen and the dragon Drogon from by Anthony Rubio Designs.

Anthony Rubio created all the costumes including his own and the wigs on his Chihuahuas.

Anthony Rubio attends Halloween Howl & Healthy Hound Fair at Carl Schurz Park

Well folks in keeping with the groove of late we decided to attend the Halloween Howl & Healthy Hound Fair. The HOWL is the Conservancy’s annual dog costume event. Over 200 creatively costumed pups strut their stuff before a blue-chip fashion industry coven of judges, witch (pun intended) took place at the lovely Carl Schurz Park here in New York City. Last night I pulled out my magic bag of tricks and revamped costumes for the boys and I donned makeup and some of my own creations. We entered the contest taking the theme from Dusk till Dawn with Aztec Gods (Bogie and Kimba) and guess what? We took first place… We had a ball and everyone in attendance loved our costumes. A Benefit for the Hort’s GreenHouse program which offers horticultural therapy and vocational training for inmates on Rikers Island. The best part was the view overlooking the Central Park Zoo.

Anthony Rubio at the 57th Annual National Puerto Rican Day Parade

Today was he grandest of events where an estimated 2 million people came out to celebrate and honor our heritage with pride and much pomp. We marched in the 57th Annual National Puerto Rican Day Parade and were embraced by the cheers, howls and people asking to take our photos. It was like a huge hug from God being acknowledged, respected and loved without judgement or envy. We had the privilege of strutting my designs on the “True” runway of life. At one point I looked up into the sky because I sensed the pride and love of my ancestors and also from my Bandit who once marched in this very parade. Que Viva Puerto Rico.
