Anthony Rubio visits the mysteries of the Orient
Pet Couturier Anthony Rubio visits the mysteries of the Orient
Inspired by the magnificent exhibit taking place at New York’s Metropolitan Museum titled China Through The looking Glass, Dog Fashion Designer Anthony Rubio felt compelled to draw from the impact of Chinese aesthetics on Western fashion. Ever since it’s earliest contact with the Orient Europe has had a fascination with everything Asia. The influences have appeared in everything from interior decor to fashion and even in the form of Opera and theater. Costume design is an art form in itself and Anthony Rubio has drawn from that influence to create a select few pieces for his collection.
From the moment he layed eyes on the much anticipated ensemble worn by actress Sarah Jessica Parker, a co-chair of this event, Anthony knew he had to capture the magnificence that was the ceremonial headdress created for this occasion by artist/milliner Philip Treacy. Anthony Rubio then decided to create a silk robe suitable for an Asian Emperor. A magnificent red silk fabric featuring blossoms woven in black silk was the starting point for this magical work of art. Utilizing his tailoring skills creating a comfortable and regal silhouette the robe took form. The final steps of hand embellishing the garment came in the form of embroidered floral patterns featuring glass caviar beads and mounted crystals. The finished garment is an actual work of art.
