Join us for the 3rd Annual Dogs On The Catwalk a benefit for The Guide Dog Foundation

Join us for an evening of fun and a full Anthony Rubio Designs runway show at the 3rd Annual Dogs on The Catwalk, A Canine Couture Fashion Show on October 10th, 2019 at the Heritage Club at Bethpage, New York. All proceeds from this spectacular gala presented by Marchon Eyewear will benefit the Guide Dog Foundation for the Blind. Last year, the event raised 100K.

Since 1946, the Guide Dog Foundation has provided guide dogs and training, free of charge, to people who are blind or visually impaired.

I am referring to the excitement of seeing my name listed among the best designers who have earned their place not only on this calendar but on legendary catwalks of New York Fashion Week.

One week and counting for a Ninth Consecutive Season the Anthony Rubio Designs Women’s Wear & Canine Couture 2019 NYFW presentation. The first and only designer in the history of any NYFW to put canine models on the catwalks has raised the bar and the fashions can only get better.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY #8 BOGIE AND KIMBA !

Eight in the Chinese culture is for luck. That is how we feel about Bogie and Kimba. It is their eighth birthday and the number of years we feel lucky that they have blessed and enriched our lives. In their eight years they have seen and explored more places than most. The boys have graced the pages of publications, television and computer screens world wide not to mention catwalks from coast to coast. Most importantly they have filled our lives.

On this day, eight years ago, these birthday boys entered this world not knowing that they would come into our lives and fill them with love, laughter and great joy. Mere words can not explain fully how they have enriched our lives nor can express the magnitude of our love for Bogie and Kimba.

Anthony Rubio receives a Proclamation from San Antonio, Texas

A Proclamation
We are back from what turned out to be one of the most enjoyable projects that I have been blessed to have worked on. It was more rewarding than mere words can explain. It was an enriching experience.

On the evening of my show as I came out to take my traditional bow, I was presented with this incredible gift, a proclamation signed by the Mayor of San Antonio Ron Nirenberg proclaiming that Anthony Rubio is hereby officially appointed as “Emissary of the Muses” of this historic and beautiful city located on the banks of the San Antonio River, in the County of Bexar, State of Texas.

The proclamation goes on to describe my commitments and so forth. You may read for yourself.

Imagine if you can the mixed feelings of surprise and honor. It was ultimately humbling. To be rewarded this way for sharing my passion.

Thank you San Antonio especially you Yolanda Ayala and Aurora Elisa Deiri. Thank you to all who attended and supported. Thank you to all of my new friends who I consider family.

A Night At The Ball
The much anticipated 2019 #BideaweeBall arrived and everyone brought their A Game. In keeping with the Glamour of the legendary Ziegfeld Theater turned Ball Room, all in attendance including the canines dressed in their finest. The affair was not to be missed with all activities geared at raising funds for the incomparable Bideawee organization. We all had fun, stayed on our mission and did it in style. Take a look at our captured moments and feel the fantasy.

We Marched the 2019 NYC World Pride Parade !
Assisted by my boys, the ever fashionable Bogie and Kimba wearing Met Gala inspired bejeweled sequined, and feathered couture designed by yours truly. We marched and represented in support of the world LGBTQ population to the cheers and screams of the spectators. I wore a fabulous sequined and bejeweled top hat featuring the rainbow in lovely ostrich feathers. The weather is glorious here with lots of sun with mild breezes. The boys, as you can see, had the best time. HAPPY PRIDE!

Always proud of my heritage as a Puerto Rican American. It has been an especially difficult time for our Island but like our ancestors before us, we are resilient, colorful, musical and powerful. We are a people of great joy and great loyalty.

What a joy and an honor to sit down with one of my favorite program hosts Lauren Collier for her new show that will be premiering in July. It was fun revisiting fond memories and discussing Anthony Rubio Designs and how far we have come. Bogie and Kimba were also on hand to make cameo appearances as they modeled for the Anthony Rubio Canine Couture coffee table book which was also discussed on the show.

Anthony Rubio attends Family Equality Council’s 10th Annual Night At The Pier gala

We had an inspirational evening at the Family Equality Council’s 10th Annual Night At The Pier gala with the Gay Parents To Be organization at Pier Sixty in Chelsea Piers NYC. Throughout the night, there were performances from the cast of several hit Broadway musicals including Tootsie, The Prom, Ain’t Too Proud The Temptations and more. I was thrilled to have met legendary actress/singer/dancer Chita Rivera and television, stage and film actor/singer Victor Garber.

Bogie, Kimba and I want to send blessings and best wishes on the Easter Sunday. We put on our Easter finery and enjoyed strolling through the New York Easter Bonnet Festival.

THE JOY OF EASTER

Nothing rings in Spring more beautifully than Easter Sunday. Films, musicals, songs, poetry, toys, foods, deserts and yes fashions have been inspired by this holiday. Here in New York City we have a traditional Easter Parade and Bonnet Festival which for years, when we are here in the city, have not only attended but have enjoyed participating while wearing my creations.

This year was no exception. After hunting down just the right materials to bring my creations to fruition, I rolled up my sleeves and with diligence went on to produce these whimsical outfits and hats for us.

One word comes to mind to describe public reaction is “Thrilled”. There were smiles, careful inspections, oohs and ahhhs. Then of course the expected photos being snapped left and right. My personal joy comes from knowing that something I created with my imagination and my two hands brings so much joy to others.

Enough said. Here are a few photos taken by my friend, the talented photographer, Dez Santana who I tricked into posing with me and Bogie in one shot.
